We respect human and digital rights
Everyone is entitled to basic rights and freedoms, whoever and wherever they are, in the physical and digital worlds. These are set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
We respect these rights. Not just for our people, but those who work for suppliers, partners and contractors as well as the rights of the customers and communities who use our products and services – wherever in the world they use them.
As a global communications company, our biggest impact could be on our customers’ rights to privacy and free expression online.
In 2017, the Human Rights Council said that the same rights people had offline must also be protected in the digital world.
We know our digital services play a positive role by helping people exercise their rights and freedoms. But we’re not complacent. We recognise there are balances to strike between things like protecting our customers’ rights to privacy, keeping people safe and enabling free expression online.
We follow industry standards
The standards we follow include the International Labour Organisation’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the UN Global Compact and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UN Guiding Principles).
