IT Service Desk (network remote support)

Within Enterprise Managed Services (EMS) our responsibility lies with network and voice support for secure and complex customers of which we have approximately 80. These contracts cover many types of customers but include the National Health Service, multiple Police contracts including The Metropolitan Police (MPS), a number of Government contracts including the Welsh Government (managed out of our satellite site in Cardiff) and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Much of our work is critical. For example the NHS contract links all sites and services together and is currently used by over one million NHS employees. Without our network operations cannot take place and prescriptions cannot be issued. The MPS contract covers all aspects of support including for any major and critical planned (e.g. Notting Hill Carnival) and unplanned (e.g. Grenfell) events. The National Air Traffic Services (NATs) contract literally keeps planes flying. Yours would be a support role in the team, learning technical networking skills but also being part of a front line team which interfaces directly with our customers. Operational support is an excellent place to start your career – we are ITIL aligned so we interface with many other parts of BT including supplier management, business relationship management, availability, capacity and problem management in addition to third party suppliers so it is an excellent place to gain a good understanding of the many facets of the organisation.

For our advanced programme you will work towards an ICT level 3 qualification.
