Colm O’Neill, Chief Executive Officer of BT in Ireland

Colm is Managing Director of BT’s Major & Public Sector Division, supporting large businesses and public sector organisations across the UK and Ireland to deliver on their digital transformation agendas.

With over 20 years’ experience in IT and Telecommunications, Colm has seen first-hand how technology can transform business performance across every industry. He has focused his organisation on developing long term, trusted relationships with customers and bringing BT’s investment in technology research and development to help them innovate and grow faster in today’s digital world

Colm O’Neill joined BT in 2009, firstly as managing director of the Ireland business sales division, then became Chief Executive of the BT operations across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Prior to joining BT, Colm spent the majority of his career in the IT sector. At Dell|EMC he led the transformation of their go to market from direct to indirect and established their SME business in the UK. At Fujitsu holding a number of senior positions developed their outsourcing business in Ireland. Colm started his career in PwC.

Colm is passionate about the STEM agenda in education and is a member of the BT Young Scientist Board which runs one of the longest standing science and technology exhibitions of its kind in the world. Colm is also a past member of the Business in the Community Board in Northern Ireland and a past chair of the Telecommunications & Internet Federation (TIF) which is the representative body for leading industry and associated interest groups in the field of electronic communications in the Republic of Ireland.

Colm graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) with an Honours degree in Computer Science and Maths and a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance. Based in London, he is married to Caoimhe and has two teenage daughters.
