Virtualisation, mobility and the future of broadband are among the many topics covered by BT’s Clive Selley when he sat down recently with leading business technology title Computing.
In a profile piece, the chief executive of BT Technology, Service & Operations, highlights BT’s current exploration of G.Fast technology and says the next evolution of broadband technology is ‘not just speed, but reliability too.’
Questioned about mobility, Clive said that BT is investing in a strategy based on Evolved Packet Core (EPC) technology.
Said Clive: "We're using what we call our ‘inside out strategy'. It's based on the observation that most people use their mobile devices from their home, or place of work. So we're very interested in small cell technology.”
Clive also reveals how BT's internal IT infrastructure has been increasingly virtualised over the past four years. As a result, the company has been able to slash its total electricity bill.
